The tour was wonderful and well organised by our guide Nur. The residence is a boat known as a klotok. It’s basic sleeping and washing, which is fit for purpose, and makes you feel a lot closer to the jungle. We loved every minute. The food and drinks on board are excellent. The walks though the jungle even better. We saw several orang-utans on each day, including a close up (it touched my shoulder) because the founder of Camp Leakey, Dr Galdikas, came to feed them. I highly recommend this if you want to explore a fragile part of Borneo. Bert

Wir hatten im voraus die Tour über die Webseite von Local Guides gebucht und unsere Erwartungen wurden mehr als übertroffen. Es war einmalig! Wir wurden von unserem Hotel pünktlich abgeholt und zum Boot gebracht. Alles war sehr gut organisiert. Unser Guide Joe Bowo – ein ehemaliger Ranger des Tanjung Puting National Park (siehe auch den Spiegel-Artikel “Orang-Utans auf Borneo – Mensch trifft Waldmensch”) – erwartete uns auf dem Hausboot mitsamt Kapitän, Bootjunge und Köchin. Wir fuhren auf dem Hausboot auf kleinen Flüssen drei Tage durch den National Park und wurden wunderbar bekocht und haben die zwei Nächte echt gut geschlafen auf dem Oberdeck des Boots auf eigens für uns eingerichteten Betten mit Moskitonetzen. Das absolute Highlight waren jedoch die Ausflüge in den Dschungel zu den Fütterungsplätzen der Auswilderungsstationen. Da kamen dann Orang Utans hin, mit Babys zum Teil. Und wir haben auch noch andere Affen gesehen und viele andere Tiere des Waldes. So schön. Wir können diese Tour auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen! Tobias

What an amazing time I had! I booked 3 nights and just had the most amazing time. So peaceful and feeling at one with nature. My guide Darmin was fantastic and everything you’d want from a guide. (I am actually a tour guide myself!!!) I felt so lucky to see so many orangutans. The feeding stations were super organised by the rangers so I didn’t feel like it was interfering with nature. The organisation of my tour was perfect, from the first online contact to being dropped back off at the airport. The food was excellent and plentiful. I contacted Sal well before my holiday started, and since the beginning he has been nothing but great, thoughtful and creative to find the best solution for my trip that me and my family wanted. The 3 days tour on a boat in the Borneo jungle have turned out to be the best memories of our holiday in Indonesia! Living on a boat for 3 days, seeing a lot of Orangutan and funny looking proboscis monkeys, eating all the amazing things our personal chef cooked for us and sleeping under a star carpet was truly a unique experience. And such a good feeling that wish this tour we also help preserve the Borneo jungle and the orangutan’s habitat via the ranger and park fees! Rida

Our family (two adults and two teenagers) did a 3D2N tour in January 2018. We were delighted with our experience. Our individual needs and interests (one keen birdwatcher, allergy to peanuts) were accommodated seamlessly. Our guide Faisal provided additional resources about the birds of the rainforest and was constantly diligent in spotting and helping to identify the birds we had seen (and of course all the other wildlife). Faisal was one of the best guides we have experienced after travelling to many countries. Catering was excellent as others have reported. We enjoyed a night trek, tree planting and village visit. Although it was wet season, the weather was excellent and did not impede any of our plans. Bathroom facilities were basic but adequate, and waste was filtered (unlike some other boats that empty directly into the river). Strong mosquito repellant and protective clothing was particularly necessary at the first feeding station where the mosquitos attacked in swarms, but we were not bothered by mosquitos on the boat. Since we had booked accommodation in Pangkalan Bun before and after the tour, we were provided three full days of activity and found this was excellent value for money. We were also pleased to contribute to an outstanding eco-tourism initiative. Anna
