>Home / Indonesia / Borneo Orangutan Tour in Tanjung Puting / Accommodation

To get more out of your tour, it is recommended to stay overnight in Pangkalan Bun before and after your tour. You’ll start your tour rested, finish your tour with hot shower and can spend more time in Tanjung Puting!

Kumai and Pangkalan Bun are the only transit locations around Tanjung Puting National Park. Kumai is a tiny, unimpressive village where occasionally low-budget backpackers crash in one of the few simple guest houses. We recommend to stay in Pangkalan Bun – the biggest regional city – as it offers much more luxury accommodations against a modest premium.

See all hotels in Pangkalan Bun that can be booked in advance, and find below the reviews of our recommended choices.

GRAND KECUBUNG This is our favorite pick. Together with the Swiss Belinn Hotel, this is the most luxury hotel in Pangkalan Bun. If you can afford it – and for Western standards it is still relatively affordable – this is the place to be. It has a swimming pool, airport pick-up service and it is situated in the center of Pangkalan Bun! If you don’t smoke, ask for a non-smoking room in the new wing. check it out
SWISS BELINN This hotel is comparably luxury as the Grand Kecubung Hotel. It also has a swimming pool, nice garden and great breakfast. Although Swiss Belinn has newer rooms, an important disadvantage compared to Kecubung is that it is located relatively far from the center. This isn’t an issue if you don’t plan to visit the center or need to fill your stock for the boat trip, as our guides can pick you up both in Kecubung and Swiss Belinn. check it out
ARSELA HOTEL A superb choice from a price/quality perspective! It is luxurious enough to make you feel all relaxed either before or after your Orangutan Tour, but not too luxurious to make it unnecessarily expensive. Rooms are clean, spacious and have air-conditioning and a hot shower. There is a restaurant, a nice garden, and a great breakfast. Great pick for low-budget travelers. check it out
