Manado >> Tangkoko National Park >> Afternoon Trek
Meet & Greet at Manado (Airport), followed by a 2 hour transfer to our accommodation at the gates of Tangkoko National Park.
Tangkoko is a haven for nature enthusiasts. Whether you enjoy trekking through primary rainforests, spotting the adorable tarsier, observing playful black-crested macaques, or capturing stunning birdlife on camera, this park offers something for everyone.
Around 4:30 PM, we set off on a two-hour trek along the forest trail in search of the spectral tarsier, the world’s smallest primate. Along the way, we may also spot Hornbills, Black Macaques or fascinating nocturnal creatures, such as tarantulas, scops owls or snakes.
After the trek, we return to the accommodation, where we can enjoy dinner and rest early in preparation for tomorrow’s early start and full program.
Tangkoko Jungle Trekking
After an early breakfast, we leave our accommodation at 6 AM. Today’s adventure feels like stepping into a National Geographic documentary, with opportunities to observe a vibrant array of birds — many of them endemic to Sulawesi — and possible encounters with black-crested Macaques.
Among the endemic birds, we may spot the Bay Coucal, Scrubfowl, Golden Mantle Racquet-Tailed, the several types of Kingfishers, Ocreh Boobok, Sulawesi Dwarf Hornbills or the Serpant Eagle.
We enjoy lunch in the National Park, and return to our accommodation in the late afternoon.
Tangkoko Jungle Trekking & Boat Trip
Because there are more than 150 bird species in Tangkoko National Park, of which 47 are endemic to Sulawesi, every day is a new adventure where we’ll find other species – such as the Bear Cuscus if we’re lucky.
Today, we trek along a different trail, and visit the black-sanded beach where groups of Black Macaques may be playing… or fighting.
In the afternoon we take a boat trip across the mangrove forest which is rich of wildlife. Here we will see the Great Billed Kingfishers or the Sacred Kingfisher, and we may encounter predators such as the White-Bellied Fish Eagle or the Brahminy Kite.
Tangkoko >> Manado Airport
We enjoy our final breakfast at the edge of the rainforest before packing our luggage and bidding farewell to Tangkoko National Park and driving back to Manado (Airport).
In case you have an outbound flight today, the transfer to Manado Airport will be scheduled to match your flight departure time.
