Meet & Greet with our driver at the airport in Medan (or at your hotel if applicable).
We drive to Bukit Lawang where you check-in at your hotel. Depending on the time of your arrival, you may also already meet and hang out with the Local Guides team in Bukit Lawang.
We depart from Bukit Lawang around 8-9 am after breakfast at your hotel. We walk into the Gunung Leuser National Park and start an adventurous journey together!
Along the way we see a lot of wildlife, such gibbons, leaf monkeys, longtail and pigtail macaques, flying squirrels, Sumatran peacocks, hornbills and of course orangutans.
As we walk through the jungle, our guide will show the medicinal plants and how to use them in practice. After a nice lunch in the afternoon, we continue towards our camp site where we will rest, get a hot drink, take a refreshing bath in the clean stream and then we will end our day at dark with a well-deserved diner at a campfire or candle lights.
Overnight in our private jungle camp in Gunung Leuser National Park.
Included: guide, cook, entrance fees, tube rafting, transfer by car, accommodation in Berastagi, meals: B L
Waking up in the middle of the jungle is a magical feeling. We hear the morning sounds of the birds and the excitement of the gibbons in the distance, and we breath the fresh air.
After enjoying a refreshing breakfast, we continue the trek further into the jungle. Along the way, we try to spot orangutans and other wildlife, try all sorts of ‘jungle-food’ and we’ll explain how to recognize them.
We have lunch back at camp, and then we prepare for an exciting trip back to Bukit Lawang on a rubber tube raft in the river – or in case you wish – by foot through the jungle.
In Bukit Lawang we pack everything and continue the journey by car to Berastagi via the scenic waterfall Sipiso Piso. Check-in at our hotel in Berastagi in the late afternoon.
Included: guide, car transfer, entrance fees, accommodation in Berastagi, meals: B
Pick-up early in the morning and drop off at the starting point of the trek on mount Sibayak. The hike to the volcano takes almost 2 hours. At the top your guide explains the volcano’s history and geology, as you wait for the magical moment that the sun rises and shines into the mountain.
Then we visit the Debuk Debuk hot springs and enjoy the beautiful view of mount Sibayak as we have lunch here. We continue to the old village “Lingga” with an authentic architecture and rich history, and wander around the village.
We get back to our hotel in Berastagi, where we have a free program in the afternoon. Enjoy the swimming pool, the beautiful view and the relaxing.
Included: transfer by car, meals: B
Private transfer from your hotel to Kualanamu International Airport in Medan (or to Medan city if you wish). Here we say goodbye and give each other a big hug.
Subject to availability. Similar accommodations may be booked instead.
In Gunung Leuser National Park we sleep in the private jungle camps from Local Guides. All our jungle camps are simple and located at scenic places where you immerse yourself with pure nature: Next to the exotic Landak jungle river, next to the picturesque Bidadari ("Princess") Waterfall and next to the lush Bohorok jungle river.
Bukit Lawang Ecolodge is a relatively new accommodation with a sustainable design and each booking includes a donation to the rainforest. It has a beautiful terrace and terrific restaurant which makes it the social hot spot of town. Because it is located near the taxi stop, travellers that arrive late don't have to walk much in the dark to get here.
The Sinabung Hotel is arguably the most beautiful hotel in Berastagi. With good weather there is a clear view of both the Sinabung- and the Sibayak volcanoes. It has a well maintained garden and an outdoor swimming pool. You could even do fun activities here such as tennis or paintball.
