How the pandemic devastated Indonesian tourism.

For almost two years, overseas tourism was obliterated thanks to the global lockdowns. Our guides, cooks and staff looked for jobs in other sectors but there was barely work. Instead they sold possessions, burned their little savings, and lived from donations. Our Torajan guide Budi even lived in a primary forest for a while - and hunted for his food - to avoid the virus. Read more about How Covid-19 Devastated Indonesians in Tourism.

Whenever you visit Indonesia, please take notice that your tips will have more meaning than they have ever had. It is not only a symbolic sign of appreciation, it will make a real and big difference to the lifes of your guides and their families.

Your visit to Indonesia brings anyhow a lot of joy to our lifes again. Not just because of the financial perspectives, but mostly because we can finally do what we love most: Show you our jungles and cultures and create lifetime memories together.

Terima kasih

Excellent Guides

Our drivers are not only English speaking, but they’re also certified guides. They can guide you through beautiful trails, provide background information at each site, explain Bali’s history & culture, bring you to traditional villages or to coffee tastings at picturesque coffee plantations.

Our Recommended Tour Package

Because we offer a set of 1-Day packages, you can customize your own itinerary. Typically, the most favorite day tours are the Central Highlights (Ubud & Kintamani) and Western Highlights (Jatiluwih & Tanah Lot)

Tegellalang Rice Terrace

The Mt Batur Sunrise Trekking & Hot Springs usually leaves a big impression on visitors. The pick-up time (±2 am) is for many a deal breaker, but those who book it despite their doubts, often consider it the higlight of their Bali visit!

Mount BaturKelingKing Beach

It is considered a must to visit the beautiful beaches at Nusa Penida. There are so many picturesque sites, that it is hard to choose a favorite!

Banumala Twin Waterfall around Munduk

For the outdoors, the Munduk area is terrific for scenic trails through picturesque rice fields, beautiful waterfalls and the jungles scenery. We will soon offer tour packages in this area.

Good to Know

Getting Here

Commonly, visitors arrive in Bali through Denpasar International Airport. From here you can easily take a taxi to your hotel anywhere in Bali. You could use SkyScanner to search for international flights and NusaTrip for domestic flights.

Recommended Accommodations

There are many good accommodations to choose from in Bali in all the popular destinations and for each price category. Here are the top picks for some popular destinations:

Candidasa (East) Candi Beach Resort & Spa
Kuta (South) Amnaya Resort Kuta
Lovina Beach (North) Puri Mangga Sea View Resort & Spa
Seminyak (South) Amadea Resort & Villas
Ubud (Central) Komaneka at Rasa Sayang
Choose Yourself Go to Booking

Payment Process

A small online booking confirmation fee is required to confirm your booking request. The outstanding amount is usually paid in cash upon arrival. Alternatively - and only if you wish - the outstanding balance can be transferred in advance to our guide's Indonesian bank account.

In case you wish to pay the outstanding balance in advance, we recommend using TransferWise .

This is an increasingly popular payment platform among Western travellers for payments to non-Western countries, because international transfers via bank or PayPal usually assume unfavourable currency exchange rates on top of the commissions. Create a Transferwise account now - the confirmation process takes a few days - and ask for bank details.

Travel Insurance

We advice you to visit Indonesia with a good travel insurance. In case you do not have one yet, you may want to consider the international travel insurance World Nomads that many backpackers use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer Airport Transfer?

It is most affordable if you hire a taxi through your accommodation.

If you would like to book your airport transfer through us instead, we will accommodate it for you. Considering the luggage, there will be space for 4 passengers. The price depends on the pick-up/drop-off location.

Should I hire a guide or just a driver?

It depends on the type of traveler you are. It is slightly cheaper to hire a driver for just transfer. This is usually a good choice for visitors who know exactly what they want to see, have a limited budget, and do not mind missing out on some background information or to visit popular/crowded destinations. This may be an excellent choice for some travelers, but it is not a service we offer.

Most visitors come to Bali to relax, but usually they wish to also learn a little bit about the temples, culture, religion or to hike trails off-the-beaten-path. In that case, it is better to make use of a driver that is a certified guide. We put the privacy of clients first, so you can enjoy any sites you wish either with or without your guide. Regardless you will get valuable information and tips as you drive from one site to another.

What is the best time to visit Bali?

Bali is climatically comfortable throughout the year, and is a year-round destination:

  • April - October: This is the dry season, during which the Western side of the peninsula creates some of the world's best waves, making this a delightful time to visit, weather-wise. Even within these months, the peak tourist season lasts from July to August. The shoulder months (April, May, June, September, and October) are great in the sense that the weather is relatively good and the crowd is below its peak levels.
  • October - March: Bali sees more rainfall during these months, which is the reason that these months are less popular. However, a reason clients visit during these months is because the rice fields are beautifully green, and because it is not busy which enhances the authentic experiences. And because the weather can still good, you may just be lucky with a sunny period.

What's the religion in Bali?

Roughly 90% of Bali's population is Hindu. There is also a minority of Catholics, Protestants, Moslums and Buddhists.

There is almost every day a ceremony or temple festival somewhere in Bali through the Hindu culture.

The Balinese life cycle is celebrate with rituals from birth to death. The birth celebratation, known as Penyambutan, is a 3-Month ceremony when the child is allowed to touch the ground and is given a name. Every 6 months the birthday is celebrated (Otonan), and in adulthood there are tooth filling and wedding ceremonies. At death, there is the Cremation ceremony.

For Temples, houses and other building there are Odalan ceremonies every 210 days.

Any behavioral tips wrt Balinese culture?

There are several customs you should be aware of in order to not unintentionally insult people or the Balinese culture:

  • If you would like to give something to other people, you should use your right hand
  • During menstrution, women are not permitted to enter temples
  • Please consider your dress when enter a temple, or even make a selfie with temples. We offer sarongs and scarfs in our cars so that you do not have to buy/rent these.

What are the electricity standards?

Current is 220V, 50Hz. Sockets are two-pin plugs.
